Sugar Bowl Tailgating
The Superdome has a lot of things to take into consideration when going to tailgate, and not following them could lead to some problems. It could also lead to issues with the law and no-one wants that.
~ Arrive early on gameday, but if it’s a noon-time game (Central time), then you may want to show up the evening or even the afternoon before. Yes, many tailgaters bring their RVs or trucks or cars out there, find a spot, and have a sleepover. They also end up paying $20-$30 for a 24-hour period.
This is the price and time you pay for getting the best tailgating spots closest to the Superdome. You could end up paying the same amount of money to park in the Superdome parking garages, but you won’t be tailgating in there.
~ Bring as many drinks and as much food as you can. No matter what time the New Orleans Saints’ game is, fans are going to be tailgating before it begins and after it ends. One of the biggest party fouls is to run out of food or even worse, drinks. Remember, it gets hot outside in New Orleans and no drinks could cause angry friends or heat exhaustion.
~ Pay attention to any and all posted signs. A lot of parking lots have posted rules detailing where you can and can’t park, along with things you can or can’t do. If something says not to have grills of any kind, then don’t do it.
You need to also make sure that you are parked where you’re allowed to park because posted signs could state certain hours that you can leave your car there. If you don’t pay attention to the hours, you could return later and find your car has been towed away.
The rules of tailgating at the Superdome are simple, but they are important. If you follow these, the rest is even easier and that’s just to have fun and enjoy yourselves.
